Rebecca Dussault is a 2006 Winter Olympian, wife, and mother. She is a cradle Catholic raised in the mountains of Colorado. As a young Catholic she was home schooled and received a solid education in the Faith, which she desires to share with others. As a young athlete, and a good one at that, she was faced with many challenges to her faith and morals. In the isolated situation of traveling domestically and abroad with teams of unbelievers, she was tested severely. At age 19, despite being one of the nations top skiers, she left the sport in a sort of “soul rescue effort”, to seek out more fully God’s will for her. She continually thought to herself about the scripture passage, “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but looses his soul in the process?” This verse and others challenged her as she sought after glory and fame in the eyes of men.

After three years away from the sport, God’s design for her life was revealed as she made a return to ski racing, but this time with her spouse and 1-year-old son. Her previous sponsors and teams readily took her back, but this time it would be a family affair. She finally had the domestic church of her family with her for every race throughout the world. Her skiing career peaked at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Italy. With her family along for the whole ride they met their “Olympic Dream.” Retirement again came with the closing of the 2006 season, but Rebecca keeps an open heart for ski racing in the future. She is now traveling around the country sharing her wonderful experiences of faith, family and the pursuit of excellence in athletics. She has as her role models many of our Holy Fathers who’ve been athletes, and most especially her Patron for the Games, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati of Turin, Italy.
