Sal Bando captained and starred for the Oakland Athletics during their three consecutive world series championships in the early 1970s. He was voted to four major league baseball all-star teams and finished second in American League MVP voting in 1971. Sal played in over 2000 games during his sixteen year major league career. He slugged 242 home runs and over 1000 RBI.
Sal also played for the Milwaukee Brewers during the course of his sixteen year playing career. At the conclusion of his playing career, Sal served as General Manager of the Brewers.
Sal is a Board Member of Catholic Athletes for Christ and a participant at the first ever Vatican conference on sports in 2005. Sal also led “Battin 1000,” a pro-life outreach of professional baseball players. He is an accomplished speaker and business leader. |
